What SALC Means for Our Legion

We’d like to share a quick update about what it means for our Legion to now be a Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC).

SALC is a provincially funded Ontario program that supports activities and events helping adults aged 55+ stay active, connected, and engaged in their community. The program focuses on wellness, reducing social isolation, and encouraging healthy, independent living.

Last year, our Legion was awarded $55,000 in funding, which supports both our operating costs and the continued growth of our programs and events. This means many of the activities you already know and enjoy—including bingo, euchre, trivia, yoga, Rock & Roll Bingo, special events, and workshops—now fall under the SALC umbrella.

As part of the program, we are encouraged to continue expanding opportunities that promote health, wellness, and community connection. One of our new initiatives for 2026–27 is a monthly wellness series focused on healthier living and connecting members with available community and healthcare resources.

We’re proud to offer more than 600 events annually, welcoming over 25,000 participants each year, and we appreciate the continued support from our community.

We hope you’ll continue joining us for both our regular weekly events and upcoming wellness sessions.

Our next wellness workshop takes place on May 25 from 10–11 AM. Join us for a free session on Virtual Healthcare, covering available options at London’s hospitals. The first 25 people to register and attend will be entered into a draw to win a prize. Email rcl533byron@gmail.com to secure your spot.

Yours in comradeship,
Dorathy Cochrane
