Good morning comrades,

I’m sure most of you have heard but for those who have not I am extremely sad to announce the passing of our long-time bartender Marilyn Brooks.

Marilyn started her journey as one of our favourite part-time bartenders around 1998. When we hired Marilyn, we knew we had hit the bartender jack pot.  She fit in immediately and was loved by all who came into the Branch.  Marilyn worked 3 jobs over the course of her career here, but I believe the legion was her favourite. The legion became her second home and later she spent many hours making sure that the decorating was done to perfection for every holiday and season.  

Marilyn loved to dress in black and had a different wig and costume for every holiday or season. She used to work Saturdays and would come in early so Tony and her could share breakfast together. That became a habit for Marilyn and after Tony passed she continued to come in early sometimes even when she didn’t have to work just to hang out in what she felt was her second home.  Marilyn will be dearly missed but her spirit will live on forever.

A celebration of life will be held this Saturday, October 25 from 1-4 in the banquet hall. Please come and have a toast with us to honour this wonderful woman who touched our lives in so many different ways.
